Nativity Scene Takedown at OLSH Cathedral
Brother Knights assisted by the
parish NET team removed the Nativity display in front of the Sacred
Heart Cathedral on January 16. Thankfully the weather wasn't its usually -30
C.
Remembrance Day
Our Council typically lays a wreath
at the community Remembrance Day service. In 2020 the Covid-19 restrictions
made it a virtual commemoration service so a donation was made by the
Council.
Parish Yard Cleanup
Five members of Charlebois Council gathered on September 26 (with safe
distancing or masks used) to do a cleanup of the Cathedral Parish yard.
Several bricks on the Memorial to Children were realigned as well. Council
Knights have done this cleanup project in Spring and Fall for several years.
Community Support
In place of the early years schools' breakfast program, cancelled because
of the suspension of classes in Manitoba, Charlebois Council made extra donations
to support the schools' food hamper delivery to the homes of student
families in need.
Community
Food for Families & Coats for Kids
Several new winter coats for students
in need and also a breakfast program donation to the principals of Early Years schools in The Pas took place in the Fall of 2019
and 2020 This project has been done for 7 years by the Council. In addition
the Council makes donations to food baskets prepared by the Friendship
Centre.
Rock,
Paper, Scissors Challenge
On April 26, 2010 the 1st
annual Rock, Paper,
Scissors Challenge, sponsored by Charlebois Council, was held at
École Scott Bateman Middle School. The four finalists received cash prizes,
with a plaque going to the Champion.
The tenth annual event was held on April 29, 2019. Events from all previous
years can be seen

postponed due to Covid-19.
St. Paul's Personal Care Home Birthday Party
In February 2020,
the Council sponsored the birthday party for the residents of
St. Paul's Personal Care Home with a cake and entertainment for the
residents, the 12th year of the Council's participation.
Easter Bread Sharing
At the Easter services in 2019, for the sixth year in a
row, Charlebois Council distributed a loaf of bread to each Our Lady of the
Sacred Heart parish family in The Pas, and in 2019 also to the parishes in Cormorant
and Pukatawagan. Due to COVID-19, this project was postponed in 2020.
Sacred
Heart Cathedral Support
Charlebois Council made a $2,000
donation to OLSH Parish to assist its operation during the pandemic.
ICCD Tickets Sales
The 2020-21
charity ticket sales have started.
All proceeds stay in The Pas for
use in charitable projects.
Tickets are 3 for $10, 1 for $5. Prizes this year are your choice of 2021
vehicles: Kia Forte LX ($23,790), Corolla LE CVT ($23,695), Chevy Trax LS
FWD ($23,755), Hyundai Elantra Preferred ($23,298), or Honda Civic Sedan LX
Automatic ($23,914), OR $20,000 cash. Other cash prizes:
(2nd) $10,000; (3rd) $5,000; (4th)
$3,000; and (5th) $2,000. Tickets can be purchased from any
Council member and are available after Mass at the church entrance. The draw
is on April 24, 2021.

Charlebois Council #2704, founded on
December 2, 1928, is named after
Bishop Ovid Charlebois, the first Bishop of Keewatin-Le Pas diocese and an early Oblate
missionary in northern Manitoba.
Charlebois Council works with Our Lady of the Sacred Heart
Roman Catholic parish in The Pas, providing funds for
various projects. Council members are active participants in this Parish.
