Brother Frank Saskowski has passed away early Monday morning, December
23. He was our Grand
Knight from 1967-70. His funeral is pending for April. Please remember him
in your prayers.
Keep Christ in Christmas
On November 30 several Knights gathered to put
up the annual nativity display in front of the Sacred Heart Cathedral. This
year the weather cooperated. The display was removed on January 18,
Food for Families & Coats for Kids
Past Grand Knight and project chair
Bro. Vaughn Wadelius (C) handed out several new winter coats for students in
need and also breakfast program donation to the principals of each of the
two Early Years schools in The Pas. This is the 6th year that this support
has been provided by the Council. Principals Jay Marin (L) and Cam Nagle (R)
thanked the Knights for their on going support.
The Council's annual donation to the Northern
Gateway Community Chaplaincy
breakfast program was received with gratitude by organizer Betty Olson.
Knights Trim Cathedral Trees
Disease has struck the trees beside
the OLSH Cathedral. Dead and diseased trees were removed by a group of
Charlebois Council Knights on September 28.
Cemetery Crucifix Refurbished
In September there was a Resurrection
Day for the
refurbishment of the crucifix at Riverside Catholic Cemetery. This figure of
Christ and the cross had been repainted, and needed the Knights to hoist the figure to the top
of the cross.
The Community Wellness Challenge
Charlebois Council made a $250 donation to
Kelsey Recreation to
aid the community Wellness Challenge event that ran during May, 2019.
Rock, Paper, Scissors Challenge 2019
On April 26, 2010 the 1st
annual Rock, Paper,
Scissors Challenge, sponsored by
Charlebois Council, was held at
École Scott Bateman Middle School. The four finalists received cash prizes,
with a plaque going to the Champion.
The tenth annual event was held on April 29. Events from all previous

St. Paul's Personal Care Home Birthday Party
On Saturday, Feb 23, 2019
the Council sponsored the birthday party for the residents of
St. Paul's Personal Care Home with a cake and entertainment for the
residents. This was the 11th year of the Council's participation.
Community Food for Families Program
Charlebois Council has made donations
since 2014-15 to school breakfast programs and
adult food programs in The Pas. Further donations were made in 2019-20.
Easter Bread Sharing
At the Easter services in 2019, for the sixth year in a
row, Charlebois Council distributed a loaf of bread to each Our Lady of the
Sacred Heart parish family in The Pas, and in 2019 also to the parishes in Cormorant
The Council celebrated its 90th anniversary
with a Chinese food dinner on November 13, 2018.
It was an opportunity to provide a treat to our spouses and special
Coats for Kids
Since 2016 Charlebois Council
has donated new winter jackets for those children who may
need them. The
coats were distributed through the two Early Years schools in October.
Sacred Heart Cathedral Renovations
In May 2017 a cathedral floor
fund-raising project was started. Charlebois Council stepped up
again with a $5,000 donation to kick it off. The project was completed in
August. A second donation of $5,000 was made in October to further the
ICCD Tickets Sales
Best Seller in 2018-19 was again Bro. Ken Kelly.
Sellers' draw was made in May. Bro. Rick Klima did a great job chairing this successful project.
The 2019-20 ticket sales have started.
All proceeds stay in The Pas for
use in charitable projects.
Charlebois Council #2704, founded on
December 2, 1928, is named after
Bishop Ovid Charlebois, the first Bishop of Keewatin-Le Pas diocese and an early Oblate
missionary in northern Manitoba.
Charlebois Council works with Our Lady of the Sacred Heart
Roman Catholic parish in The Pas, providing funds for
various projects. Council members are active participants in this Parish.

Charlebois Council sponsored a stained glass window in the Cathedral of
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in The Pas.
