2018 Manitoba State Conference
The annual conference once again provided an
opportunity for two brothers who are Grand Knights to meet again. (L) Vaughn
Wadelius of Charlebois Council in The Pas and (R) Lance Wadelius of
Beausejour Council.

Happy Birthday!
Two Council officers, Bros. Rick Klima and Gene
Hrabarchuk, celebrated birthdays in the same week...both in their 70s!

Easter Bread Sharing
At the Easter services, for the fifth year in a
row, Charlebois Council distributed a loaf of bread to each Our Lady of the
Sacred Heart parish family in The Pas, and also this year to Cormorant.

St. Paul's Care Home Birthday Party
The Council sponsored the February birthday party
for the residents of St. Paul's Personal Care Home. This is the 10th year of
the Council's participation, supplying cake, ice cream and entertainment.

Council Dinner
The Council celebrated its 84th anniversary
with a Chinese food dinner on January 16, 2018.
It was an opportunity to provide a treat to our spouses and special
guests.
Goodbye and Hello
(L) Brother Knight Fr.
Robert Laroche has been transferred to Winnipeg, so on behalf of the
Council the Grand Knight presented him with a gift as we said goodbye at our
December meeting.
(R) Bro. Jessie brought as a guest to the meeting,
Bro. Marcial Bangogan of the Divine Mercy
Council #15580 in the Philippines.

Nativity Scene Erected for 2017 Christmas
Several Knights and two parishioners erected the
traditional nativity scene in front of Our
Lady of the Sacred Heart Cathedral. This has been a Council project for
many years.

Cathedral Flooring Replacement
On October 15, some Council members
presented Fr. Vijay with a second $5,000 donation
to the OLSH Cathedral floor replacement fund.

Coats for Kids
This is the second year that Charlebois Council
has donated new winter jackets for those
children who may need them. The
coats were distributed through the two Early Years
schools in October. Coats were also delivered to the elementary school on
Opasquiak
Cree Nation in December.

Food For Families
This is the fourth year that the Council has
donated funds to community food programs.

Rock, Paper, Scissors
Challenge
On April 26, 2010 the 1st
annual Rock, Paper,
Scissors Challenge, sponsored by
Charlebois Council, was held at
École Scott Bateman Middle School.

Sacred Heart Cathedral Renovations
In November, 2016 Charlebois Council contributed
another $5,000 to a major parish project, replacement of the cathedral
ceiling. The Charlebois Council has contributed a total of $23,000. The
project was completed in December, 2016.
In May 2017 a cathedral floor
replacement fund-raising project was started. Charlebois Council stepped up
again with a $5,000 donation to kick it off. The project was completed in
August. A second donation of $5,000 was made in October to further the
fund-raising goal.
Community Food for Families Program
Charlebois Council has made donations in
2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17, and 2017-18 to school breakfast
programs and adult food programs in The Pas. To see photos, click on the Gallery

Our newsletter has undergone a change and is
now presented as a PDF document. It can be found via the Newsletter tab
on the left panel.
ICCD Tickets Sales
Best Seller in 2016-17 was Bro. Ken Kelly. Congrats to project chair

The 2017-18 ticket sales began in October. The final draw will
be held on April 28, 2018. Knights can pick up their tickets from
Bro. Rick Klima.

Charlebois Council #2704, founded on
December 2, 1928, is named after
Bishop Ovid Charlebois, the first Bishop of Keewatin-Le Pas diocese and an early Oblate
missionary in northern Manitoba.
Charlebois Council works with Our Lady of the Sacred Heart
Roman Catholic parish in The Pas, providing funds for
various projects. Council members are active participants in this Parish.
